From Monday 4th of April we will start sharing our weekday out of hours cover with Vets Now, based in Edinburgh. Each weekday evening our own vets will continue to provide emergency cover from 1830-2300, but from 2300 until 0830 the following morning (including Saturday) emergency cover will now be provided by Vets Now.
Why are you changing?
Our vets work hard each day to ensure your pet receives the best care we can provide. By working alongside Vets Now and West Vet to cover some of our out of hours emergencies it enables our vets and nurse to get a good night’s rest so we can continue providing the high quality care during the day that we pride ourselves on.
What does that mean if my pet needs emergency attention?
As always in the event of an emergency please call the practice on the usual number where a recorded message will inform you what to do next. Between 1830-2300 any pet needing seen will be asked to attend the practice as usual at Bankton Square. From 2300 until 0830 the following morning any pets requiring attention will be asked to attend the Vets Now hospital in Edinburgh.
What about in-patients?
Any patients already hospitalised at Lamond vet clinic will continue to be cared for as normal overnight by the on-call vet and will not be transferred to Vets Now. Any patients admitted by Vets Now overnight will be transferred back to our Bankton Square address the following morning, assuming it is safe to do so.
What if I can’t bring my animal in to Edinburgh overnight?
In the event of such an occurrence, and where Vets Now staff feel it is important that your pet is seen, then our own on-call vet will be contacted to arrange a home visit.
What happens at the weekend?
Our weekend emergency cover will continue as normal to be provided by West Vets at our Bankton Square site from Saturday 1600 until Monday 0830.
